System Impact

This document details all modifications, custom entities, UI modules, and system permissions introduced to your Jira instance upon installing Reminder for Jira.

Custom Permissions

To maintain proper governance and security across your organization, Reminder for Jira installs custom permission settings at both the global (instance) level and the space level.

As a Jira Administrator, you can grant or restrict these permissions to control who can set group-wide reminders, view public reminder entries, or manage reminders across work items.

Global (Instance-Level) Permission

Global permissions govern app functionality that spans across spaces or operates outside of specific work items.

Create group non-work item reminders

• Description: Grants users the ability to create standalone, unlinked reminders for entire Jira groups or project roles.

• Default Allocation: Assigned strictly to Jira Administrators upon app installation.

• Recipient Limit: Group reminders are currently capped at 50 total recipients per reminder, regardless of the group's overall membership size.

Where to configure:

Navigate to Settings > System > Global permissions. Locate Create Group Non-Work Item Reminders and assign it to your trusted user groups or roles.

Space-Level Permissions

Space-level permissions control how reminders behave inside specific project spaces.

By default, none of these permissions are pre-assigned to standard project roles upon installation. A Space Administrator must explicitly grant them within each space's permission scheme.

• Browse non-private reminders within issues: Grants the ability to browse all non-private reminders within work items of this space.

• Create group work item reminders: Grants the ability to create reminders for groups linked to work items.

• Manage all non-private reminders within issues: Grants the ability to manage (edit or delete) all non-private reminders within work items.

By default, none of the users have these permissions given. Space Administrators have the ability to grant these permissions within each individual space.

UI Extensions & Global Integrations

Dashboard Gadgets

• Gadget Directory Entry: Registers the gadget in Jira’s global Gadget Directory, enabling any user to embed the main app data grid directly onto their custom dashboards.

Global shortcuts & Hotkeys

• Hotkey Listener: Binds a global keyboard shortcut (R) across the entire Jira interface—including third-party plugin pages—allowing users to instantly open the Quick Reminder modal from anywhere.

Work item view extensions

• Context Panel Web Item: Injects the Reminder action button and context panel module into the issue view across all supported work item types.

Jira Automation Integration

• Custom Action Registration: Installs a native Create Reminder action into Jira Automation. This action is immediately available for building automated rules at both the Global (Instance) and Space levels.

Administrative Control Pages

The app adds dedicated administrative management pages under Apps > Manage your apps > Teamlead Reminder:

• Active Reminders: Displays a centralized list of all upcoming reminders scheduled across the entire Jira instance.

  • Privacy Control: Public reminders display their message text, while private and personal reminders are masked as Content Restricted to protect user privacy.

• Sent Reminders: Provides an audit log of all previously delivered reminders across the instance.

• Logs: Tracks creation, updates, rescheduling and deletion of all reminders across your instance.
